The event proper commenced with a welcome dance from several tribes in the island, namely Talaandig, Subanen, Umayamnon, Higaonon, Tigwahanon, and Pulangihon, that showcased the rich and vibrant culture of Mindanao.
At the outset, the launching of the new activity at GMETV is TIEZA’s expression of support to the efforts of Cagayan De Oro City Government to promote the city as a premier eco-tourism destination, said Atty. Shangrila C. Quezon, Officer-in-Charge for Operations Department.
The launching event featured a pilot walk to the trail of Pegtawagan Peak to Mt. Isaac, a 4.9-km. circuit trail with GMETV as an anchor point.
TIEZA invited various outdoor groups, such as, Night Hike Outdoor, Balingasag Mountaineering Club, Magnolia Climbers, Angkol Mode Outdoor, and Yanakaay Outdoor, among others, to join the first ever trek on the said trail. Isaac and experienced the stunning natural landscapes on its summit.
TIEZA also partnered with local stakeholders and indigenous groups to promote community involvement and support economic development in the region. This initiative will not only provide visitors with a thrilling experience but will also underscore TIEZA’s commitment to environmental conservation and fostering sustainable development that will mutually benefit forward the local community and GMETV.
